Ever since I started fashion blogging, compilations of favorite red carpet looks have been my favorite posts to both read and publish. This Emmy's was no exception. Although, due to my awful schedule, I couldn't watch the award ceremony - I did happen to take out some time to scour the internet for my the red carpet looks and consequently, compile a list of my 10 favorite ones.

    1. Vanessa Kirby
    In Tom Ford

    2. Felicity Huffman
    In head-to-toe Aritzia.

    3. Kristen Bell
In Solace London and Forevermark diamonds.

     4. Madeline Brewer
In Brock Collection and Bvlgari jewels.

    5. Letitia Wright
In Pamella Roland and carrying a Jimmy Choo clutch.

    7. Jessica Biel
    In Ralph & Russo.

    8. Rachel Brosnahan
    In Oscar de la Renta.

    9. Evan Rachel Wood
    In Altuzarra.

    10. Taraji P. Hensen
    In Giambattista Valli.

You might have been able to assume my preference in gowns from this list above but to be honest with you, there was not much to pick from. The overall lineup was pretty disappointing. The looks lacked drama, experimentation and diversification. Gowns were at times either quite forgetful or the same styles we've been seeing celebrities wear for the past 5 years. Despite that, individuals like Rachel Brosnahan and Kristen Bell were still able to steal the show with their simple gowns. The above ten looks were the best out of an overall disappointing pool of outfits. For me, this year the simplicities stood out. Bold color choices either did not work or were too outdated. The plain white, black and neutral gowns were what may have saved the Emmy's this year.

If you could pick one gown from the Emmy's line up this year, which one would it be?

    Jeans are an identity.

It is quite simple as that however, jeans truly are your identity.

I do believe all clothing is form of distinction in its own way. The way you dress trademarks you. You represent what you wear and what you wear represents you but these words don't apply as strongly to some articles of clothing as they do to others. They do, however, apply quite strongly to jeans.

There truly is nothing worse than a badly fitting pair of jeans. Or a way too long pair of jeans that forces you to cuff it up at the ends in order to make them look like their a skinny pair. Or ones that sag around your hips when they aren't meant to. Or around your butt. Ones that bring attention to some parts of your body that you don't want to be highlighting.

Finding the perfect pair of jeans is hard. I know that for a fact because although I was far quicker to pick up on jeans patterns than most people I knew were - we've all struggled.

This post, however, isn't meant to explore the varieties of jeans and what looks good and what doesn't on certain body types. This post is meant to reflect on some of my favorite types of jeans. So here's a clean, cut list.

    1. High Rise Grey Jeans

I was never quite into grey jeans but in all honesty, that's partially because I've never really owned grey jeans. I tend to always gravitate towards the dark blues and sometimes blacks. This summer - I realized I needed to broaden my horizons a little bit and so I experimented slightly. I got my hands on a slightly expensive pair of high rise, slim fit grey jeans from Levi's and they might be my favorite purchase ALL summer. I love them. They are so representative of my taste and they accommodate everything I've ever truly wanted in a good pair of jeans. Not only that - they look fantastic with my favorite chelsea boots and every t-shirt I own. They are harder to pair with more girlier tops but they fit the grunge aesthetic perfectly.

    2. Boyfriend Jeans

Boyfriend jeans are quite misunderstood, frankly. At least they were by me because I've had a sick pair of boyfriend jeans for the past couple of years and I've rarely ever worn it because it just didn't seem to work with anything. The things with boyfriend jeans or mom jeans is that they don't easily pair up. You have to squeeze their potential out of them but once you get the look right - they're effortless, casual and comfortable. Not to mention, they do actually go with EVERYTHING. They're also pretty easy to jazz up - pair them with a nude pair of heels and you've got a formal look instantly. Otherwise, put on a sweatshirt and some trainers and you could look like you're about to go play a baseball game. They work but it's hard to understand how to make them work. The key to that is mainly - finding the right pair for yourself. One that fits but doesn't sag on you. One that hug your body and doesn't make your thighs look big. The only way to get there is to spend time trying out pairs and seeing what not only looks right but feels right.

    3. Slim Fit Light Blue Jeans

The darker zones of jeans is a world that I've been trapezing through for the past few year rarely every moving beyond that. It did occur to me quite some time ago that I need a change of scenery and also because too many of my friends had light blue jeans and they all looked exquisite. I got my hands on a very similar pair to this picture above and to be honest, they didn't have my size but the jeans, my oh my was too gorgeous to not buy just because it was a few sizes too big. Besides, it came with a belt. There's nothing you can fix. Although, I do suggest - always buy jeans in your own size (belt or no belt). It is mostly always fashion suicide to buy jeans too big for you. The pair I bought however, I dodged the bullet because they work. Paired with something colorful, you're a sight for sore eyes because light blue jeans do light up a room. They're playful yet collected. Light blue jeans are the probably the easiest to jazz up - wear a silk top and statement necklace with some fun heels and you've got a high fashion look right there. All in all, always have a pair of light blue jeans in your closet.

The world is becoming a string of congruent identities, despite its ever growing size. Most of us have something to offer that although unique to who we are blows up as smoke once revealed beyond our personal capacities because of how it corresponds with something a hundred men and women have already attempted and executed sometimes to perfection. It is hard to want to master a skill when one of the biggest incentives your art should withhold - distinction - is exactly what it lacks because there's always going to be someone out there who was there before you, who did it better than you and someone who you will perhaps never surpass in your entire career of pursuing whatever it is you wish to pursue.

And I suppose a phrase "well that blows" is perfectly appropriate here.

And it does blow, perhaps. Keyword - perhaps.

Speaking specifically to fashion blogging now, what really is the point of starting up a blog in 2018 when the blogging world has escalated to where it is today - a fully recognized, prominent and sedimented member of the fashion industry. What is the point in blogging about fashion when there thousands of others who started way before you did, you excelled so quickly and have achieved such milestones that amateurs like us can only dream of achieving.

More importantly, what is so different that you can offer that these other thousand, successful and well versed bloggers haven't already given out to the world?

And that question, without myself having to give it any further thought, is so wrong.

Statements like these are going to reduce any industry to the point where it is filled with overly ambitious and overly confident individuals that have lost a sense of reality and their art. Can you honestly tell me that you bring in a new individual to any industry and they are willing to combine it with effort and dedication that they will have nothing new to give it? Even if they aren't flooding with creative ideas on how to diverge themselves from the rest. If science can accept the individuality of a person, I'm sure we can too.

I'm sure we can accept the fact that everyone and I mean everyone brings something new to the table in one way or another because no two people are alike and this truly should be all the motivation you need to pursue practically anything you want regardless of whether you have that "I'm bringing something new to this space" niche to your brand and name because even if you don't have that - you are always always bringing something substantial and worth crediting and worth motivating to the table if you're putting in an effort into what you're doing and that in itself should be enough. That may at times not be enough to make money or build the largest audience but it will get you a happy places and happy places are attractive to all good things.

Not only that happy places are prosperous for ideas. For free flowing creativity. For that I'm bringing something new to this space now when I'm ready and when I have it. I don't have to bring it when I'm starting out - I don't always have to have a bag full of gold when I start out and that's fine because I'll get to that golden idea one day and even if I don't, it's still fine as long as I'm happy and we're living for that now, aren't we?

And that's why I'm here. And maybe that's why you (who's reading) started out a blog a few months ago. Or days ago. Or will start out. Or will do anything else they want to because they can.

I can. We all can and we all will.

Here's to raising ourselves beyond limitations and criterias.

Here's me and my new blog.
